The Visitation series was photographed in small town funeral homes throughout Vermont. The camera is a neutral observer in these colorful environments. Experiencing these spaces free from grief and sadness, allows a closer investigation of the artifice surrounding death. Despite having no people shown, the human condition is made evident through interior design choices, iconography and the leftover traces of ritual.
